The rooster that pairs with the above hen & chicks was nicely waiting on the porch as it asks everyone to 'Please wait to be seated'.

Those of you on the West coast have some of the loveliest scenery. I know it comes with some caveats.. but that is just stunning. It is such a gift to be able to get out & about most of the year.

I'd like being a student in that sort of classroom!

OK... so one more chicken (rooster) pic and a photo from inside a lava tube that looks out to the sea.

I moved some posts talking about the use language to the Red Book to avoid continuing to disrupt this beautiful thread.

Beautiful, Rose! I don't know when (or if) I'll get back to Maui or the other Islands, but your posts bring back very nice memories!

It's a lot closer/a shorter flight from where you are V! But you also already have the sea, the mountains, the moderate/warm weather and lovely trees.

Are you ready for a few more Maui photos?
*Photo of a waterfall taken along the Pipiwai trail in Haleakala state park. More to follow.
*Rainbow eucalyptus on the (very curvy, windy) road to Hana. The beauty of these trees are very difficult to capture with my amateur photography skills and a moderate camera phone.

Also in Haleakala state park on the Pipiwai trail, the pools of O'he'o which empty out to the sea. In the top photo there is a 2 lane road bridge over the falls. It's difficult to see in this reduced size, but it's a testament to the size of the falls.
