I got today's Metazooa in two guesses, which is really weird because with the first guess I landed a category so broad that I guessed the furthest thing I could think of from my first guess just to narrow the field a bit... and it was right! Pure, dumb luck.

I didn’t get to solve Strands completely - but the two words I did solve made no sense to me in connection with the clue.

Help?!

Rose do you still use the same opening word for Wordle each day? It certainly was a good one today!

MOST of the time. Not always. I play around more with my 2nd word.

The most common letters used in American English words are: E, A, R, I, O, T, N, S, L, & C. Mileage may vary depending upon what list you use.

In the past I have started with SLATE, STALE, STARE, SOARE, or SALET but I often had issues choosing a second word. While I still occasionally use one of those words, for awhile I've taken to starting with CRANE a good part of the time. It may not be the best starting word, but it usually gives me a good direction to go with a second word (whether I need to choose a word with a variety of vowels - or not so much). My second word choice is often more variable but it often contains L, T, S but I always consider what the options are before settling on a 2nd word because sometimes an H, P, G, D or other letter would be more revealing. Second/Third words I have often chosen (of course depending upon my first word because I almost never reuse a letter in my 2nd choice word) are CURIO, OCULI, CLOUD, DOILY, SLIPT, BIPOD, TOILS, BUMPH, DUMPY, LYMPH, BUMPY, FUDGY, WHUMP, DUMKY, etc...

Not impressed with this one

Names are not recognised as valid words and these are all artists names. Since the first one I sound was Prince, and the clue was "Name Dropping" I looked for other pseudonyms, but kept getting "Not a word" because these particular Pseudynoms are also regular words, like Brandy and Meatloaf. Sneaky and a bit unfair since I had figured out the theme
