I have such a backlog of things I haven't watched yet that a re-watch is fairly low on the list.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Now that I have the missing disk, a rewatch may be on the agenda!
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Someone on TORn recently posted a link to the Cannes preview reel, which I hadn't seen before. I really enjoyed watching it and noticing the little differences from (what I recall of) the finished films. Mostly dialogue, though the Balrog is a lot more shadowy than firey, presumably because New Line was working hard to keep the design a secret prior to Fellowship's release.

Thanks for finding that! That was quite a watch - I can see how the original audience at Cannes would have been captivated by it.

The leadup to the appearance of the Balrog, before you actually see it, is magnificent.

I notice there was a one-second clip of Arwen waking up from her - coma? That plotline never made sense to me.
