So in the published Silmarillion?

Yes, it's in the published Silmarillion. (I have a vague recollection that we're not supposed to use quotes from outside the Big Three, though it doesn't say so in the OP, so maybe I'm confusing this with the rules of some other forum game. I've always stuck to them, at any rate.)

Here's the quote for the new page:
Banished to the slaves of their King to send brave men and his only son and heir, and they alone, are returned?

The rule that we adopted is that quotes from UT can be used, but it must be noted that it is from there upfront.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Fëanor, to the Noldor, after the messenger of Manwë stated that he, Fëanor, would be exiled:

"'So! Then will this valiant people send forth the heir of their King alone into banishment with his sons only, and return to their bondage?"
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

This one is in fact from Unfinished Tales.

Their eyes do not darken or their hearts harden. Look at this with that token!

Can you borrow it through kindle or the library or something?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Any other questions? It doesn't just have to be Inanna!

Is "token" in the original?

If yes, does it refer to some physical object?

The answer to the first question is yes.

The answer to the second is complicated. In the translation it does. In the original, it does not really, even though the original quote is about something that could be described as a token.

Does "their eyes [and] hearts" refer to an Elvish population?
