“Deep in, but not at the bottom”.

Gandalf to the hobbits discussing the news Barliman gave them about the shire. The “deep in” comment was for Lotho.

This game has had a slow pace recently so I don't think there is a big hurry. Though she-of-the-many-names might eventually disagree.

Hmmm, I have 9 official names, but you probably aren't referring to me. And besides, I'm always fine with the pace. :D

I am referring to Willow Matilde Shadow Margaret Note Spelling, who sometimes makes an appearance in this thread to encourage the posting of the next quote.

Is this when they came across Saruman on the way home, before they realized who he was?

Is it Gandalf referring to Gollum as "Wretched fool!" to Frodo, talking about Gollum going to Mordor?

The Hobbit?
Is the speaker Great Goblin?
His philosophy was a mixture of three famous schools -- the Cynics, the Stoics and the Epicureans -- and summed up all three of them in his famous phrase, 'You can't trust any bugger further than you can throw him, and there's nothing you can do about it, so let's have a drink."
