Night Watch spoilers ahead

Saw a Tumblr post with a theory that in Night Watch, young Sam Vimes assumed that John Keel was his long-absent father. (Looks like me, looks out for me, says he's from a distant city but actually knows my neighborhood very well, likes the same food I do but won't go to see my mum, etc.)

Which makes perfect sense, in that it's Vimesy clearly suspects something about Keel, and a long lost father is much more logical that me but from the future
