There are a lot of lovely red trees, but they are not generally found in the woods/on the trails. We have an enormous maple in our yard and it's leaves won't turn until the end of November and it can be a challenge to get the leaves raked because we often have snow/ice by then and it's freezing out!! If we don't rake them, they pile too deep & kill the grass.

First day of snow. There was more ground cover this morning but I didn't take a photo of it as it was not snowing at the time.

Wow, isn't that early! Pretty, of course, but it's still October.

The earliest I can recall getting snow is the 22nd of October, however we often get a hard frost MUCH earlier. We just had our first heavy frost a day or two ago. On average we get our first snow around Nov. 2nd but we don't generally get measurable snow that sticks around until early December. This morning there was at least an inch, maybe 2 on the deck, but it got up to 33º so it melted then snowed again. I'm not used to driving in icy conditions (since Covid) and found myself out & about today and it took me about twice as long to get home. Fortunately I didn't see any accidents & people were taking it slow & giving plenty of space.

Oh my! How tall are those trees?

Mature coastal redwoods can get pretty tall. The ones in the pics look like youngsters (less than 100 years old).

Yes, I've been to Yosemite, the redwoods, etc. And know how huge they can be but I was wondering how big the trees in Voronwë's yard are.

Even the younger ones are quite tall. I would guess those trees are roughly a hundred to a hundred and fifty feet tall. There not in our yard though, just visible from.

LOVED!!! your photos today V. I especially liked the one where someone is standing in the river (on FB) and the bird on water. The first photo, of the lovely sky is nice as well and the Deer trekking the rails is fun.

I'm itching for a trip. This was supposed to be our 'Decade of Travel' (beginning with our trip to New Zealand in 2019) but COVID threw a wrench in that. We did make it to Hawaii in 2021.. but yeah, I'm itching. April may be too soon to plan though. I need to give it some thought.
