Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
Whoa, 3/6! That’s good. BTW, it changes with the date change on that location. So my NZ friend is always a day ahead. She just solved 210.

Impressive, Rose! #209 took me 5/6 and lots of brain wracking.

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Where are you guys seeing the puzzle number??
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.
"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
Previously I would make every guess compatible with the previous results. This time on my second try I used all different letters, even though I knew it couldn't be the right answer. The aim was to eliminate as much letters as possible. The first two guesses had enough greens and yellows to make the third guess fairly obvious.
The next couple of days will show whether it's a superior strategy, or whether I just got lucky.
Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
I tried that too. My second one was all Grays.

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
That's great! Eliminating 5 letters at once is more helpful than a couple of yellows!

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
I found that strategy can easily lead to an entire grey line, which is intimidating, but it serves a purpose. It makes it tricky knowing a letter can be used multiple times.
