Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.
"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

New quote (barely changed)
So far, my destiny has been fulfilled and Morgoth's purpose has been achieved. But I'm no longer his slave.

This must be Húrin, at his last meeting withThingol and Melian:
For now my fate is fulfilled, and the purpose of Morgoth achieved; but I am his thrall no longer.

I'm kind of surprised that it didn't transpose "Morgoth" into something else.

If they get over it, they will be almost at the top. If you almost pass.

And then, the tunnel?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

It sounds like many of you already know in what area to look, but do you need another hint?

I'm on a beach, 400+ miles away from my copy of the LOTR, so someone else will have to crack this particular nut.
If I were more ambitious, I could download the book(s) from Libby, and do a word search. But something about listening to the waves crashing is turning my brain to pleasant mush. Sorry - not sorry.

You're on the right track, but they haven't yet entered the lair.
