Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Are the "three short sentences" all continuous, or are they separated by some kind of "he said" kind of thing?
Is the order of the three parts of the translation the same as the order of the three short sentences?
Is the order of the three parts of the translation the same as the order of the three short sentences?
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

All continuous, all the same order

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is the first sentence accurately translated as a statement that the addressee cares about himself? Or a command to take care of himself? Or something like "If you care about yourself..."?
Or something else?
Or something else?
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
No, but Faramir is paraphrasing Frodo for effect.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I would suggest it is this, except that it is three short phrases, not three short sentences.
"You bid me mind my own affairs, and get me back home, and let you be."
"You bid me mind my own affairs, and get me back home, and let you be."
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

You will be late, my lord. I stopped expecting you for a long time. I don't think it's as welcome as when the deadline is reached.

Later still. Considerably.
