What's the scale here? Are those pebbles or large boulders the size of a small boulder?

There are self-effacing brown snakes? Do they go around saying, "Oh go on, don't mind me... I don't want to be a bother"?

If snakes could speak, that's exactly what that snake would have said.
Most Oz snakes are supremely non-aggressive; they slink away when they hear you coming, to avoid attention and clear the road for you.

As snakes go, they're my kind of snake.

I discovered another hiking trail a mere 15 minutes from my house. That's one thing I love about Ottawa - it may not be Edinburgh, but it does have a lot of hidden surprises.

Question: if you happened to unexpectedly come across Willow Matilde while hiking alone, would you think you had stumbled upon a black wolf?

Edit: I suppose the tag hanging from her collar is a giveaway, but supposing she wasn't wearing it?

No. She doesn't look remotely wolflike. Why, did someone?

Do you have wolves in the area?

There are wolves in the area, but they tend to avoid humans so they're only spotted occasionally.

Anna would occasionally get mistaken for a wolf, but so far nobody has said that about Willow. Which I thought was odd because Anna was so obviously a German Shepherd, ad not everyone knows that they can be all-black. But then, Anna would move with the characteristic lope of a wolf, and Willow doesn't.

I guess if I were genuinely concerned about wolves, I might see anything dog shaped and wonder. But those ears don't say wolf at all.

Which ears say wolf to you?

Wolf ears? :D

Of actual dogs, mostly sled pulling breeds, like husky, malamute, or tamaskan. There are some shepherd breeds that are fairly wolf like, but I have never looked at a German Shepherd and thought it looked like a wolf. And I grew up around German Shepherds of a much leaner, less sloping shape than I see now.

Some people think the Caucasian Shepherd, aka Wolfcrusher, looks like a wolf, but it's actually a cross between a bear and a couch.

She kinda reminds me of Anna Cornick in this series:

Of course, Anna is a werewolf, so actual wolf morphology may be a bit off.

I actually like it a lot. :) It is technically a spin off of the Mercedes Thompson "Moon Called" series, but I like the "Alpha and Omega" series a bit better. Both are excellent. Lots of paranormal romance books are utter crap, but these two series are great. :)

Point Roadknight beach.

The cove in the last photo was the scene of phone tragedy, as Marc's phone encountered ab aggressive wave and was fatally damaged.

The fault was mine; I was carrying is phone in my bag while taking that very photo with my own phone. My attention thus distracted, the wave came upon me unawares.ImageImageImageImage

Oh my, such lovely photos! It's a shame about
Marc's phone. I had that happen with a camera in Hawaii. Saltwater is no friend to electronics. :(
