GMTA: Marcy Wheeler made the same joke yesterday!

(To be clear: I mean that as a compliment. Wheeler is the best analyst of the Trump-Russia scandal.)

But she went on to say: Trump will probably pardon them both.

I followed EmptyWheel very regularly when the scandal was ongoing (though since the Mueller report came out I've not been back). I am flattered to even be mentioned in the same sentence with Marcy Wheeler.

(And, of course she is probably correct, but who knows what Trump will do that doesn't directly protect his own interests.)

One of the few Trumpistas on my FB feed posted this (below).

She believes this, as do all those who responded to her post.

With such opposing beliefs, how can the divide be overcome? It's like lifeforms with incompatible DNA attempting to find common ground.

I honestly have no idea. At all.

Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Yes, I've run into that sort of attitude a few times. And they were worried about the Dems storming the White House if they lost...

The problem is not opposing beliefs, it's the opposing values. This is something that Western liberals often overlook.

I'd say something more like the opposing values affect what you are willing to believe is true or false. What we ultimately believe so often depends on what authorities we trust, and who we trust will depend on our personal values. That's my perspective at least.

It seems someone screwed up: Trump Team Holds News Conference Outside Drab Landscaping Firm, Next to Adult Book Store and crematorium. I'd say that sums the Trump presidency up from beginning to end.

I still occasionally burst into laughter at random times when I think about this.

I lost the source, but my favorite tweet went something like this: "the press conference was held between the dildo shop and the crematorium. Giuliani doesn't know if he's coming or going."

I don't feel guilty at finding that hilarious; it is hilarious.

Truth is often stranger than fiction. And when it works out like that.. it is hilarious. The bizarre incompetence of this administration coupled with this particular screw-up is pure comedy gold which writes itself.

An account from a reporter who was there. I didn't realize that they announced that Biden won just as the press-conference was about to start.

I have to say, the 2020 writers redeemed themselves with this one.

I saw Donald Trump’s presidency come crashing down at Four Seasons Total Landscaping

As I'm sure you're already aware, this has always been my position. Nice to see the NYT agreeing with me :)

Was Joe Biden the only Democrat who would have beaten President Trump?

There was a similar article at CNN by their stat guru Harry Enten, formerly of 538:

Joe Biden won a race another Democrat may have lost

Obviously, we will never know for sure, but I think they make valid points.

Probably. A different candidate would have run a different campaign, but Biden pushed a lot of the right buttons, and his age didn't prove to be the handicap I feared it would be.

Which is why its pretty concerning to see AOC coming out immediately saying he has to be progressive and not pander to the middle.
