About This Here Forsaken Inn

The way I'm going to do it here will be in two stages that is a mix of several other RP sites I'm a part of. • First is I will post a thread listing my characters, most likely with links to their dedicated pages on RP Repository. I will edit in any new characters that may come along. • Second, I wi...

Re: Good music and other good stuff

Remembering back to my youth when Fleetwood Mac's lineup changed when Peter Green left. Went to a Seattle concert and I was close to the stage and I along with a lot of the crowd were reluctant that they could pull it off. There was a certain amount of heckling in the crowd because Jeromy Spencer h...

Re: About The Forsaken Inn

I'll likely start a thread here for some of my fanfic writings. Question to the brain trust here... what would be preferred...
A. Posting each story in its own thread?
B. Posting an omnibus thread and posting the stories in the one thread.

Rules, Characters, Links, FanFic, RP, and such...

I think the way characters are presented on LotR Fanatics Plaza (I believe Eldy you are on that site?) will work. Post as your account, and header the RP post with what character you are writing. There can be a separate thread for character profiles like on LotR Plaza and old TORc) that can be link...

Re: About The Forsaken Inn

It makes sense to me to have alternate IDs for RP characters, as long as we know who the ID belongs to. That should be stated in the OOC thread. I've also seen it done in the screen name, e.g. let's say, Sunny posting as Arwen. Otherwise, things can get confusing.... I agree. I'm just not su...

Re: About The Forsaken Inn

In my experience, strict and detailed rules like those quoted on the previous page usually aren't necessary in this era of Tolkien forums. Twenty years ago, major sites like TORC or the LOTR Plaza had to manage a constant influx of new users, many of whom had no previous exposure to message board c...

Rules for The Forsaken Inn

Well done Bardhwyn! Personally I think this set of rules covers the etiquette of 'collaborative roleplay story-writing' quite well. It may need a bit of clarification, polish, and such here and there. I do have a question about this part: Please note: Per the newly amended Terms of Service: While a...

Re: About The Forsaken Inn

Snowdog, what's TTF? Sounds scary! Pony people were the best. Also looking forward to your stories. And TTF I think is The Tolkien Forum, though I've never lurked there. Indeed it is. I registered there in December 2001 when TORc crashed under the tidal wave of hits from the first day Fellowship of...

Re: About The Forsaken Inn

Yeah! Now we're talking! As long as good etiquette is observed and people don't crash the rp stories with OOC chatter and outright plagerism, etc, like what happens on TTF, it will be a wonderous renaissance of the old Prancing Pony! Is this also going to take the place of the old TORc Reading Room...

Re: 2022 U.S. Congressional (and Other) Elections

Well, it seems the 'red wave' turned out to be a sheared lapping at the ankles. Sadly, the house will flip, but not by much. Here's to hoping the senate remains 50-50. Guess we wait for December to find out.

Re: 2022 U.S. Congressional (and Other) Elections

Got some microwave popcorn and am ready to sit back and watch the USA shit themselves red again.
At least it won't take me by surprise like it did back in 2016. Back then I thought people knew better.

Re: Movies we are looking forward to seeing

I watched 'All Quiet On The Western Front' the other night, and I have to say I have mixed feelings about it. It was a really good World War 1 movie, and even would qualify as 'excellent' if it had another title. This is not a 'remake' of the old classic 1930 movie. The 1979 movie was a 'remake'. T...

I'm sure he does. Trouble is a lot of the 'Bernie Bros' like my brother think internal party politics is more important than the completion of a fascist takeover.

Re: 2022 U.S. Congressional (and Other) Elections

I kind of backed off following the lead-up to the mid-terms, but I take one look at what is going on now and one conversation with my little brother in Seattle, and I can confidently say that I think the USA is going to fvck themselves once again in 2022. I mean, the big fvck was 2016, and I seriou...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread

I hate to admit it, but my wife and I went to the theatre to see Black Adam. That is 2+ hours I'll never get back.
At least we went to the first showing and the popcorn was fresh and hot.

Re: Rings of Power Reviews

I'd like to try a small survey - why do you read reviews? Do you rely on reviews to decide whether to watch the show? Once you start watching, do you continue reading reviews? I don't so much 'read' reviews as 'glance' at them. I can usually tell within the first paragraph were it is going and if I...

Re: Episode 3 (Spoilers)

Eldy, I couldn't agree more about the Harfoots. Snowdog, thanks for your thoughts. To you catch the little bit at the end where Míriel is talking to her father? They are setting up a different dynamic between Míriel and Pharazon then what Tolkien wrote. I've only watched it once so far. Usually do ...
