Former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres quit the Labor Party on Wednesday, leaving his political home of nearly six decades to campaign for Ariel Sharon's new centrist party. The 82-year-old Peres, who has held every major Cabinet position, left Labor after his humiliating loss to union leader A...

I'd have to guess the Alps, but that is only a guess. I'll say the Matterhorn, though I am sure that is not right. :)

Hobby, its really hard for me to put this in words that have any real meaning. I grew up a city boy. Well, worse then that, really. A suburban boy, with blah surroundings and a blah attitude. I think that is one of the reasons that I fled the east coast for the west coast. Not that there are not bea...

Indeed it is, my dear Athrabeth. When I was a teenager, I went on a "teen tour" that made a loop through the western part of North America (mostly in the U.S, needless to say). So many beautiful places! But the two main places that stood out in my memory more then any others were Yosemite ...

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been to in my life. Anyone recognize it? (Hint: It is not in the United States)

I hope you'll come discuss the Silmarillion with us here. Among other things, of course. :)

I think that could go in the Lasto Beth Lammen forum. I nominate you to start it, Prim. :)

I also think that people are going to have a hard time remembering the name of that forum. :P

What is Art? (Was "Ecological Art?")

Note: I changed the title of this thread because the discussion has move in another (and I think more interesting) direction. This is concept that I have never heard of before, but I heard it mentioned on the radio today. Ecological Art is a worldwide movement, the philosophy of which is based on e...

About the "The Library of Rivendell" Forum

Elrond Halfelven was a great master of lore, and Rivendell a great center of learning and art. In the Prologue to the Lord of the Rings, Bilbo is said to have "used all the sources available to him in Rivendell, both living and written" in preparing his three-volume "Translations from...

I sat down several weeks ago to write my own responses to Tom’s character, quite certain that I knew what I wanted to say, quite sure of what Bombadil means to me. But putting my thoughts into words has proved to be rather more difficult than I anticipated, because, I realize, my feelings about old...
