Cerin ... correct away! :D

You're right, of course. It's been a long time since I held that book in my hot little hands. I lost it somewhere along the way. And it was almost 40 years ago.

V. I can't see the picture either. :(

<rubs hands togerther> Ooo. An Athrabeth post  I've only read this through twice (a mere cursory glance) but it seems to me that we are (mostly) in agreement. The main difference being our different use of the language. Ath wrote: They serve to narrow all those uncontainable possibilities into...

Voronwë, that beautiful photograph reminds me of a book I loved called, In Wilderness is the Preservation of the World . It contained a most extraordinary collection of sublime nature pictures using Thoreau's words as text. I treasured it for many years. And now for my daily Sussex reminder: The gar...

Wonderful idea, V. Then I can innundate the thread with pictures from my idyllic childhood. :D Not that it really was idyllic, you understand. It was actually quite traumatic but the places and the memories they invoke remain pristine and unspoiled. Um, you don't know how to use a scanner?

Aha! It is my evil plan to inflict more photographs of my beloved Sussex upon you all. This one is very like the area about 1/2 mile from my house. I was often up here in the South Down alone ... with only my imagination and the sheep for company. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/Viggovixen/su...

 Walter Sickert had been tangentially implicated in the Ripper crimes as early as the 1970s, with the release of the now infamous "Royal Conspiracy" theory. But it wasn't until the early 1990s, with the release of Jean Overton Fuller's Sickert and the Ripper Crimes, that the peculia...

Nothing so dramatic as Voronwë's pictures, I'm afraid. But this is a view of the Sussex coastline where I lived once upon a time far back into the antedeluvian past. <Okay, so I exaggerate.> The chalk hills, really the South Downs, are called the Seven Sisters. It still represents home to me. http:/...

Edit: copy/paste from b77 Sil thread 13th November. <I'm not at all sure that this re-creation is either sharper or more focused. The gist is similar but I've lost some insight> Be that as it may: “Sense is what you make of it” I borrowed your title V. because it makes so much sense It seems to me t...
