Re: Asimov's "Foundation" coming to TV

I'm finally getting around to watching the series on Apple TV+ and reading the book. I'll be finishing the first season of the series tonight. Lots of head scratching moments with both hubby and I try to figure out what's going on, not having read the books. But it does have lush visuals and a delig...

Re: What are you reading?

Inanna, have you checked on Hoopla? I found it there through my local library. I'm not sure if the content is the same for every library.

Galadriel sang to the departing Fellowship: Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen, Yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron! Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar nu luini yassen tintilar i eleni ómaryo airetári-lírinen. of course I recognize it - it has my name in it!

Re: What are you reading?

Maria, I agree. Communication disconnects are just blown over in the Star Trek other universes with the use of Universal Translators. Just wait till you see the communication issues in Children of Ruin :)

Seven of the candidates listed above on the NH ballot are also on the California ballot. Here's a statement by each of them, plus one for Biden: https://voterguide.sos.ca.gov/candidate ... ements.htm

V, since you asked... "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning", by Margareta Magnusson, is similar to Marie Kondo's "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up", except that instead of concentrating on simplifying your life and getting rid of what doesn't cause you joy (Kondo's appr...

Re: What are you reading?

Has it really been 6 weeks since my last brain dump here, and 18 more books devoured? Maria, I finished the first two books by Adrian Tschaikovsky - "Children of Time" and "Children of Ruin" - and now I'm reading the third in the series, "Children of Memory". Fortunatel...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread

I saw Killers of the Flower Moon the other night (actually two nights, we split it up because it was so overwhelming). I'd read the book (a very hard read) so I knew what was happening. Re: Nature Pics

Monarchs are pretty amazing. In February or March, the butterflies I just photographed will fly from coastal California to inland California sites, and find milkweed to lay eggs on. These eggs will hatch caterpillars, Generation 1, which will eat prodigiously, pupate into butterflies, then start to ...
