Re: fiber arts and handicrafts
Sunny, that's really cool...makes that link through thousands of years of history tangible; the human chain of craftspeople who did what you do in the same way.

Re: World News Thread
The deal struck in 2021 was one of the (few) ticks for the Morrison Government, IMO. I hope California - and other states across the US - see the benefit of supporting professional news journalism by curtailing the current parasitic relationship bw news sources and tech platforms. Wishing luck to Ca...

Re: Have you read...can you recommend...
I highly recommend a series I've just begun by Alan Bradley. The protagonist is Flavia de Luce, 11 years old, a precocious aspiring chemist who lives in a rambling old pile with two obnoxious older sisters and a father who is still grieving his wife 10 years after her mystetious death. In the first ...

I use Libby and swear by it. I have also taken digital membership at Brooklyn Public Library using a friend's Maryland address - had to pay $50 for out of state membership but I estimate I've saved $400-$500 in book purchases in the last year so well worth it.

I can't find a copy at any of my Libby libraries either. I'll have to download a sample on Kindle.

Re: About The Forsaken Inn
So...is anyone in the throes of developing a story background? I'd like to see us tossing around some ideas for stories so we can clarify what kind of RPs people are interested in. There are so few RPers on HoF that it would be canny of us to launch the forum with a story that interests a goodly num...

Maria, I'll be very interested to read your assessment of it. I've never heard of it either. I'm a little dubious about a never-ending series written by consecutive authors but willing to give it a go, pending your review.

Ah! I hadn't realised that the pics originated in that illegally acquired laptop. Now it all makes sense.

Re: Elon's Twitter
Hold on. Let me back up a second. Hunter Biden posted dick pics? on a public platform? Totally with River regarding the howling tantrum, but...he posted dick pics? I'm still stuck on my bafflement on why anybody would do that, especially somebody who has experienced mobs with pitchforks in the past.

Not available in my library. :( Inanna, have you considered joining the Brooklyn Public Library? It's digital library is open for remote membership if you live in any US state - and you live next door, just about. It's fantastic - it costs $50 a year in membership but so worth it! I've saved around...

I think the way characters are presented on LotR Fanatics Plaza (I believe Eldy you are on that site?) will work. Post as your account, and header the RP post with what character you are writing. There can be a separate thread for character profiles (like on LotR Plaza and old TORc) that can be lin...

What does that expression mean, please? Milk toast is an eggcorn of milquetoast, meaning insipid or feeble. Comes from the comic strip character Caspar Milquetoast, very timid, vapid, apologetic. In turn inspired by a simple dish for an ill person of sliced buttered toast with warm milk poured over...

How about posting under our regular IDs and using the Subject field to indicate the character, as I have done in this post?
It is then possible to write innumerable characters without having to sign in and out of various usernames and bloating the MB membership.
