I agree with that perspective, yov . We Indians actually find it amazing the extent of propaganda which goes on in certain news channels here in US. In India we have a very healthy distrust of the government and everything it does, so no channel actually wastes it's breath (so to speak) on any kind ...

All a driving license says is that X is allowed to drive a car. It does not say that X is indeed X, i.e. it's not legally acceptable identification of a person. Not in US - a DL actually does say that X is X (with pic, of course) and lives in Y location. And before I got a DL, I had a state issued ...

But these violations are happening right now anyway, aren't they? I mean, people, Feds, government will use things for horrid uses - whether you do or you don't have a RealID. I've been thinking about this thread, and I started wondering whether being there is something I have done which I would not...

I remember a few years back there was a lot of talk about a study that had worked out the economics of doing air travel between small destinations via small planes dispatched as needed. I remember that it appeared a system like that would be not only much more convenient and pleasant for travelers,...

The last thing I want to do is relinquish any more freedom. Am not sure why this would lead to loss of freedom? I admit it can be a pain to carry ID all the time - but we have to do that now anyway - with DL/State IDs to board flights, to enter bars, buy tobacco. And any purchase you make from your...

One other point that many might not realize is that the water quality we take for granted in the U.S. is not true of many (most?) places in the world. In such places, bottled water might be the only reasonable choice. Not necessarily Brian - in India, you cannot drink water straight from the tap. B...

Wiki has long since fascinated me, being the very visible front of a kind of open source movement. I have often thought of adding stuff, editing etc but never got around to it. Interestingly, I always assumed it was well, people , who did it - I am a bit taken aback to know that Fox News has been ed...

Ah... makes sense now. Thanks for the explanations.

And Cem, take Prim's advice seriously... she can get quite annoyed when people don't "obey" her.

I ain't flyin' on no A380, I can tell you that. Give me the dear old 747 any time, even though many of them are ancient. Every pilot I know of thinks the 747 is the best plane ever built with the possible exception of the DC3. But these pilots have not flown the A380, have they? So you can't conclu...

Reminds me of the time when the Indian TV started broad casting the parliament proceedings. While in the beginning we were shocked to see people actually throwing stuff in the well... after a few days there was better stuff on TV to see. I think the Cricket season had started. ;)
