Re: The last movie you saw Thread

 everybody! Alas, with a crushing work schedule and then the Covid pandemic, it had been far too long since I darkened the doors of a true movie theatre . . . and sadly, I still can't bring myself to venture into the dark with a crowd of strangers. :P I did however, catch a (total surprise) mo...

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

Do you have adblocker installer,Scribe? I know Rose does. Yes, I'm running the most current version of Firefox on Windows 11 and it has UBlock Origin - I think this is the new defalut. Since the "chat bar" isn't technically an "AD" it might be slipping by due to that. I need to ...

Yep, that's the same site I was using, though I didn't sign in with a Microsoft account, I just used "Skip". Hmmmmm . . . :suspicious:

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

Our daughter bought a home last fall. I feel like we've had a part-time (and sometimes full-time!) job over the past year; cleaning, paintig, new doors, more painting. Yard work. Tree trimming. We're falling behind on our own household chores. I hope your chores are things you can live with and wor...

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

Re: Letter Garden. The HINT button only shows up on it's own. If you want it to appear, try to make a few attempts and it shows up quicker thank if you just wait. Or at least it seems to show up quicker. :D Good luck with moving & settling in. What a job! :P Thanks Rose! For the HINT info -and-...

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

I don't always play in one sitting. Neither do I, but since I don't log in with an "account" I start from zero every time. Having said that, I finally broke 100K - and made it to 130,521 . . . LOLOLOL It was the Peonies level (19?) and I think it took me just under 2 hours. =:) I think my...

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

I LOVE Letter garden! I gave warning for good reason. Oh yes, I see it now . . . :D I'm hooked for sure, my only gripe is that when there are absolutely no possible words left, sometimes the game just kicks you back to level one instead of displaying the "there are no more possible word...

Well, I finished my re-read a day or two ago, time has definitely not dulled my enjoyment of this book.

I'll try and catch up with everyone's comments when I get home, I'm sneaking in from work just now . . . BAD SCRIBE!

Good to see you too scratty one, even though it looks like you have TIGG wrapped round your finger . . . I doubt it's possible to wrap a TIGG around anything, much less my finger . . . silly elf. ;):D:D And the Oilers are not about to lose anything, certainly not on the feeble hexes of a Leaf's fan...

And a "skreen" is a screen. Some editions preserve more of Austen's spelling than others. I had forgotten about that, I'm sure folks must wonder why I'm gritting my teeth every few pages. Spellings like "chuse" and "shewed" are about driving me crazy. Funny, they didn'...

Agreed. I dropped it halfway, it was boring and the main character only annoyed me with all his whining. Hmmm, that's one book I have had on my shelf forever and have just never gotten around to reading. Yep, right up there with "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac, which I suspect is another ov...

No one is making you go out in a mad rush and buy, buy, buy, spend, spend, spend. You don't have to do that to have a wonderful, meaningful Christmas. I shop throughout the year - when I see something that I know someone in my family would like, I get it and put it away in the "Christmas close...

elfshadow, I tend to agree with you. I've read a ton of Steinbeck and found him to be generally depressing, but Grapes of Wrath was extremely so. I found the utter hopelessness of the book hard to take.

Well, I'll have to reread it and see how "posh" that accent really sounds to me. Maybe when I read it the first time, I un-poshed it a bit. Tolkien hated Pickwick. Go figure. Ah, and I could be harking back to the movie rendition with that angelic little blonde cherub that spoke like one ...
