Re: fiber arts and handicrafts

Wow to all you talented energetic people! :) I have some projects to my credit, but unfortunately none of them very recent. I'm a medievalist too (yes, I caught the An Tir references! :)) but I haven't made anything for use in the group besides clothing (AKA "garb") which I haven't done fo...

Re: Rest in Peace PTerry :(

I didn't post back when because I was seldom on this board (was I even on that far back?), but I expressed my grief over in TORC at the time. Hubby is the one who got me started on PTerry's books, and in turn he was encouraged by a friend of ours. After that he would proselytize in bookstores! I thi...

Re: What parts of the legendarium do you wish we knew more?

I'd like to know more about the area around he Sea of Rhun, particularly Dorwinion. The Mirkwood elves traded with the people there for their wines, probably among other things, and I can't help wondering what other settlements were along the River Running. Were they men? more elves? If men, where f...

Re: Where is Your Middle Earth?

I don't have photos of it, but there is a spot along I-80 in western or central Pennsylvania that we see from the highway heading west; the highway is high up, and just as we come around a bend and see past the cliff and trees, we look down onto some farmland with hedgerows that my husband and I hav...

Could you imagine a cold voice suddenly emerging from Anduril telling Aragorn that it would gladly drink his blood? That would be quite a development!

Re: The Arda 300

This is exciting!

And how great to have two guitar gods--blues gods at that--playing together!

Every week I look forward to these. And I love getting closer and seeing characters that I'm more familiar with. The top 100 isn't far away!

Re: The Arda 300

RIP indeed. :( Well, I'm enjoying this! And I was delighted to see Fogerty in both this group and the last. Who knew such a big voice would come out of such an unimposing kid as he looked at first? And who knew he had that much energy that many years later?? But it's great seeing the characters at t...

Re: The Arda 300

I think there was some letter or something that showed he didn't like rock music. I don't know about individual performers. But if he's anything like me, or my generation, he would have liked popular music only if it came out during his youth or young adulthood. Most of his potential favorites would...

Re: The Arda 300

I got the same message for "Woman"; it seems it was something to do with copyright. Anyway, you had some great music there! Doors, Tull, Steppenwolf, Fleetwood Mac, Doobies, wow! Plus several groups I never heard perform before. (After all, I kind of lost track of popular music in about '8...

Re: The Arda 300

The only thing is, I would have preferred the Turtles' "Eleanor" in that context.

Voronwë, you never heard the Zombies' "She's Not There"?? Not even the hit single back when??

Re: Charmed by Treebeard

Treebeard is delightful and mysterious. Yes, it is ironic that no news of the walking tree in the Northfarthing would get back to him; after all, it was Sam who reported it secondhand at the inn (and wasn't believed), but he isn't with them now; and he and his audience were working-class hobbits fro...
