The Decline of the USA

I'm kind of going off on a tangent here... Was reading through the 2008 Preseidential Election Forum and things were so much simpler and formal and polite back then. Even if you stood opposite on issues, there was still some semblence of respect that was assumed between each other. All it took to b...

Re: Dune

To give the high-level review without explicit spoilers, the film really succeeds on the foundations. The script is solid. It has some excellent acting. We knew Timothee Chalamet was able to play Paul, but he was also able to summon the gravitas to play the war leader Muad’dib, and his transformati...

Re: The all too early Season Two thread (possible spoilers)

Weird rumours aside, I see the showrunners got their contract extension from MGM for the next three years.
So much for the crybabies having a tantrum about the show and wanting it to be cancelled. I'm willing to say they will make the five seasons.

Sign up for a couple of months and binge "For All Mankind", "The Morning Show" and "Foundation" Its worth it for those. I concur. I've been watching Masters of the Air as well, but I like war flicks/series. I also find that my Apple TV+ box works better than my smart T...

The Children of Aragorn and Arwen

"But Arwen went forth from the House, and the light of her eyes was quenched, and it seemed to her people that she had become cold and grey as nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Then she said farewell to Eldarion, and to her daughters , and to all whom she had loved; and she went o...

Re: The state of TORC

I got 'banned for life' twenty years ago. Jon and I had a chuckle over that when his aborted 'new' forum was up for that year. I'm tempted to pay the $4 for a month just to see how much activity he has going. Maybe I could see if I can get banned again? :P

Kin-Strife of Gondor ~ The Reign of Castamir

The Sack of Edhellond ~ 27 Súlimë 1437 III ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ How was this possible, Amarwen wondered. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair had been brushed until its ebony lengths glowed and then set into a high braid that fell over one shoulder to her waist. She had don...

Re: The (no longer) much too early 2024 election thread

https://twitter.com/Politics_Polls/status/1747064207701340433?s=20 ....which is why this election cycle is so damn scary. I lost all faith that the Republican voter had any hint of decency and even a slight bit of common sense after January 6th 2021. And now it comes to this. I can only say I'm gla...

Re: The all too early Season Two thread (possible spoilers)

FWIW, I think RoP is worth watching for a few reasons. Firstly, some of the imagery is sublime, as is the score. I have issues with some of the storylines, but overall I enjoyed it. Yes, and the action scenes were actually better done than in the PJ movies, imo. I think the key to enjoying it is to...

Revisiting Rings of Power

A couple weeks ago, my wife and I decided to watch the PJ Lord of the Rings movies as presented on Netflix (theatrical). The parts that were bad before are still bad, and a lot that was ok-ish/decent back twenty years ago hadn't held up to the hands of time. Anyway, this week we decided to pay Ring...

Yeah, watched the first four episodes they released.

I've been enjoying 'Morning Wars' more than I should. :D
