Re: 2020 Election: Predictions, Results and Reactions

On the surface it may seem like Pelosi made a mistake to deny the five chosen from a political/partisan point of view of what is best for each party politically, but from a historical/long view it may be that she's done the wise thing. The 5 Republicans were not chosen in good faith to 'get to the b...

Re: Lord of the Rings series!?

They wouldn't necessarily have to stay out of the way &/or disappear, it could be a separate but simultaneous story line. Perhaps the way different peoples of earth might have experienced a huge event -a volcanic eruption- in different parts of the globe in the year 3000 BC.

I can't imagine any other major political figure wearing such ridiculous make-up/bizarre hairstyle.

Re: Lord of the Rings series!?

I think there are ways it could work too. Showing various peoples reaction to some large event, completely separate from one another/without interaction. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

“I’m very disappointed in Kavanaugh,” Mr Trump told Mr (Michael) Wolff in an interview, according to the book ( 'Landslide' ). “He just hasn’t had the courage you need to be a great justice.” Behind closed doors, Mr Trump was reportedly much more vicious in his denunciations of Mr Kavanaugh and his...

Re: What are you reading?

I enjoy historical fiction and I'm half-way through 'Hololulu' by Alan Brennert. When I read the tagline it had me hooked. "In Korea in those days, newborn girls were not deemed important enough to be graced with formal names, but were instead given nicknames, which often reflected the parents'...

So cool! I love that! And you can go inside! I really like the stone they put around the outside. I think Calma (Torc) lived in Port Orchard.

I wonder if it's some type of mantis. That is really weird, especially that .. spiky thing on it's back. (I'm searching...)

I wonder if it could be a temporary stage of something more recognizable.

We don't have any grand parks on a Western US scale nearby, but here's a shot of one of our small local parks. It's such a lovely spot. Kiwanis has a duck derby every year in this little creek on the 4th to raise money for local causes/projects.

Re: Nature Pics

Big Basin was in the heart of the fire last year, and except for one mile long trail to a nature center near the coast, the entire park is closed indefinitely. There continue to be small fires sparked by trees that are still smoldering almost a year later. I believe that most of the old growth redw...

It could be taken that way. The dictionary includes both misguided and wrong as a description of 'mistake'. It boils down to people have treated one another horrendously. And it's worse (imo) when it's 'justified' by religion/dogma/politics.
