Dexter, a forensic blood expert, who is also a serial killer. The fact that he only kills other killers really shouldn't excuse him, should it? =:)

Let me throw out a few rambling thoughts after my rewatch of Crossroads 1 and 2, then the season 4 premiere last night. This show never ceases to amaze me in that it has me thinking about it for days after. Lee's 'forgiven' speech at Baltar's trial was brilliant, in that it pulled in so many plot po...

Across the Universe-now on DVD

Katie rewatched, and I watched for the first time, last night. Reviews were mixed when this came out, and I don't think it ever opened around here, but we were intrigued with the idea of setting Beatles songs in a kind of film musical setting. It mostly works, and is well worth seeing for several ve...

Unbelievable stupidity. I was in similar circumstances years ago, coming home from work. I got on the interstate connector, and noticed that cars were out of control. In the time it took me to process that, mine was skidding out of control, too. Absolutely no traction. I ended up in the breakdown la...

Oh, this was a mini ice storm. 10 years ago we had a six day storm, took down the huge towers that hold the transmission lines and about half the state was without power for days. We lost ours for five days, had about 20 trees come down in the yard, one huge oak just missing the house by inches. The...

I liked this film a lot and wish I had ignored the rather tepid reviews and had seen it in the theater. I was entranced by the oxygen garden and the room for viewing the outside of the ship, and those incredible images of the sun. Oh, yes, and Cillian Murphy's pretty, pretty eyes.

It is pretty, isn't it? When the sun came up, it was blowing like mad outside and I was awakened by the ice breaking off from the tree branches and hitting the house.

Has anyone read Mark Helprin's Winter's Tale? This is one of my favorite books, one that I return to again and again. I admire some of his other books, but this is his best, I think. I'll warn you that it's in a magical realism style, if that's not your cuppa, but it's a magnificent tale! What's it ...

I once grew mustard, and actually harvested the seed and made mustard. That was back in my Mother Earth days. :D

It's great. Such soulful performances and beautiful songs. I keep rewatching the Falling Slowly scene. Worth it just for that and the recording scenes.

I hope this really makes Glen Hansard's career take off, cause he has an incredible voice.

Well, to each his own, but Juno reminded me so much of my own kid, with her witty, far ranging conversational style and wide grasp of retro pop culture, and putting that up as a front to anything that bothers her, that I loved her from her first sentence.

I know kids like this. Heck, I WAS one!

Juno

Sixteen year old daughter and I loved this funny, sweet, smart movie. Seems that it's doing very well in limited release and may show up on more screens. UPDATE: from The Box Office Junkie: "In fifth place is Juno, the movie that audiences love to love. Out of just 998 theaters, Juno earned a f...

I'm not that emotionally invested in The Hobbit, myself. My friend was wild to get me to read LOTR, but I couldn't get through The Hobbit. Finally, I skipped it, then went back to it after re-reading LOTR a few times. Too tra-la-la-lall-y for me. It's PJ-there will be lots of battles. There will be ...

It isn't credited, but I will bet anything that Cat Stevens sings background on Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl. Listen to the end of the song and you will hear it.
I will listen for it. Cat Stevens has such an incredible, distinctive voice.

And...topic.... sorry, not an LZ fan.

Somehow I never noticed before that Sting sings with Dire Straits in Money for Nothing. How I never noticed, I'll never know.
