Anthriel, we are doing nasal swabs and sending them off. We ran out of rapid tests a while ago. And I'm with you, I'm not sure how accurate those things are anyway. I have also been getting a complete blood count on some.
It's just a mess and the media is not helping at all.

A flu bug is runing through the county (TN) I work in. (I'm a NP). About 1/2-2/3 the kids have been out of school at some point in the last week. We can only test for influenza A and B. We've gotten a few positives but we also have a stomach bug and the usual seasonal allergy flare-up going on as we...

There are some troubling parts in one of the bills specifically regarding end of life care which might be read as endorsing euthansia. I am also concerned about the lack of concience protections. And the overall emphasis on govt input, mandates and orders is a wee bit disturbing. As I said before, t...

I have a couple of quick comments. I understand the system is broke. I work in it. However, I don't like a plan being rammed through just to do something. The folks in Washington are taking a sledgehammer approach instead trying to work on one area at a time. I see a plan that will be expensive, ine...

A novena is a period of nine days of public or private prayer for a specific saint or holy day. It usually preceeds the saint's day or holy day. The one Lurker is refering to is the one leading up to Divine Mercy Sunday which is the second Sunday of Easter. Participants are granted special graces fo...

Missed Holy Thursday Mass but was in time for the Adoration. Made it to Good Friday service tonite. The weather was quite violent today (tornados etc) which seemed to fit the day. We had 3 cantors chant John's passion account. It felt odd not to speak the crowd parts though. I will get to Mass on Su...

Quality versus quantity
I wonder if the issue isn't really the quantitative changes so much as the qualitative changes. Word counts might help but I think what Voronwë was trying to get at was that the changes CT made to the female characters appear to diminish their importance on a qualitative level. And as Primula might ...

I find international standard sabre fencing less interesting to watch: two opponents dance in at the same time and one is just faster. There's little sword play. It's far more fun at club level. Far more fencing of blades occurs in foil (my favourite) and epee. Hey, I fence too! Not competitively b...

I signed up for a subscription in 2006. They were promoting at the Gathering of the Fellowship in Toronto. I think I got the first 3 volumes at a discount. I loved them and continued to subscribe every since. There is just so much good stuff in them. The book reviews and year in review are particula...

I've been watching what I can. Love the fencing since I fence myself. Though the action is so fast, it's hard to tell what's happening sometimes. Bronze in team sabre and silver in team foil for our ladies. Well done. I am a former rower so I'm keeping up with that as well. Silver for the US women's...
