Re: The Arda 300

#288 was Pearl Jam's 'Daughter' for Eärwen, and #59 was Pearl Jam's 'Alive' for Finarfin. (Unfortunately there is nothing resembling a 'Jeremy' in Middle-earth, as J is Tolkien's least used letter apart from X). But you can go back and enjoy two quality live versions of 2 of their best songs!

Re: The Arda 300

I had to change the video for Frodo (Hey Jude) because the version I used is apparently banned everywhere (?), thus I edited in a studio version (both here & TORC) that I hope passes the muster. So if consistency matters at this point, the master-list can be edited accordingly. And as for Bob, I...

Re: The Arda 300

Thanks everyone, for all the kind words! I do plan to tally the totals and subtotals all of the races & occupations soon, for my own interest of course (as all of this has really been), but will of course share the results on this site & thread. Here, however, I give the breakdown of the sec...

Re: The Arda 300

I'm curious by your statement, again, that Túrin had the most points from AR "thus far". I can't imagine any of the remaining characters having more. Well, we'll see soon! (Or at least I will; I doubt anyone else cares.) Oh, they care! :) And open your index & do the math. Who has mul...

VtF, if you'll note, I had to edit an error I made above calculating your previous predictions. Your new predictions for the top-5 have only 1 right! :)

Re: The Arda 300

yovargas , on another site I think someone is attempting to do the very same thing (Sador on TORN), although the degree of non-geezership may vary. Maybe you two should collaborate! Thanks Beutlin . Neil Young appears at #90, #128, #169, #258, #259. Crosby, Stills, Nash and/or Young appear at #252,...

Re: The Arda 300

4 of your 10 are on the money! I thank you and yovargas for your thoughtful comments! I'm under pressure to get this done this week, as I go away on the 31st, but we're so close, I think it will be done! I must say though, VtF, your wordy captions accompanying the bottom of your posts are starting t...

Re: The Arda 300

Oh come on now. You had Tom speculated at #15 in a June 18 post. And I have Tom Sawyer at #21 on the most recent 'Rock'n Roll 500' poll, on an American station no less. Other lists in my binder, cataloguing 30+ years of such polls, on multiple stations, in 2 countries, have it #7, #10, #14, #46... N...

Re: The Arda 300

This batch of 5 we’ll call ‘A father and son, a figurative father and son, and a complete unknown’. (And no, the last 3 words don’t mean that Dylan’s ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ appears anywhere here – though it sure would if it could apply to a high-ranking Tolkien character – especially since yesterday...

Re: The Arda 300

VtF, I've edited 4 entries, #246 Salmar, #62 Grima, #25 Legolas, and #24 Gimli, mainly due to the musical choices (owing to you, yovargas, and sador of tORn), but my commentary is edited as well. So if you can transfer those to the master-list that would once again be appreciated! :) And does your l...

Re: The Arda 300

"Lonely, lonely, lonely, time" since Tauriel went for Dori, or Kili, or whoever it was? ;) Hey, it was the 2nd song of the two, so no reason to complain. :) (I've heard Zep's 'R&R' on every list I've ever witnessed. I've never heard S&G's 'Leaves' on any...) Let me tell you though,...

Re: The Arda 300

I would say the Dead's version is easily the 2nd best of the three I now know! Dylan's version gets played regularly over the music-system at work, to which a co-worker noted, "somebody is just butchering Hendrix's WatchTower"! This batch of 5 can be called ‘4-and-a-half members of ...

Re: The Arda 300

Isildur's daddy was back at #37. Elrond, probably because he's a Hobbit character, will be just shy of the next 5, actually cracking the top 20. And no credibility lost, as I've made more than my share of blunders along the way ;). Yes, I'm of course aware of Dylan & Watchtower, but didn't know ...

Re: The Arda 300

Time has been killed, and we move on. Interesting you mention Faramir! (If you mean Beren & Lúthien as the 2 Hobbit characters mentioned in the drafts, yes we'll have 11 of the top 20 as Hobbit characters, counting Jackson - an no, Tauriel is not one of them). We’ll do batches of 5 from here on ...

And if you mean actual hobbits, 6!
