This was spoken by Sauron, about Melkor, to Ar-Pharazôn:

Quote:
But he that is their master shall yet prevail, and he will deliver you from this phantom; and his name is Melkor, Lord of All, Giver of Freedom, and he shall make you stronger than they.

Assuming that is the answer (and it certainly is the quote that I thought of too), the correct answer to Inanna's question should certainly have been "Melkor".

I have an idea who this is, but I'll let someone else try.

Hint:

The last word in the translation ended up as the exact opposite of the word in the original.

Hmmm? What is the opposite of "say"? (Not actually asking you to answer that, just musing "aloud".)

Just as a lark, is it Gildor to Frodo: "In this meeting there may be more than chance; but the purpose is not clear to me, and I fear to say too much

I'm pretty sure Alatar has it...

No, the word in question is the real, absolute logical opposite to "say". "Ask" could probably be called a subset of "say". (In English, we don't "say a question", but in some languages you do)

Oh go on so, I'll post it. Gandalf to Saruman in "The Voice of Saruman".

'What have you to say that you did not say at our last meeting?' he asked. 'Or, perhaps, you have things to unsay?'
