This. Agreed.Dave_LF wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:26 pm The ones that require pop culture knowledge are the ones I don't get, and I'm also terribly annoyed when a category is something that depends on the structure of the word rather than its semantics ("bird names minus the final letter"), but otherwise I love it.

Either I'm having a really horrible game day or there is something wrong with the Waffle puzzle today.
Edited:
I made it with 4 to spare, but FYI, there were issues with the yellow tiles on today's puzzle.

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
I was distracted by the yellow tile malfunction, made a couple of stupid moves and ended up quitting when I didn't have enough moves left to solve it.

I don't know if today's puzzles were especially hard, or if I'm just not all there, but I struggled with all of them. In all cases I got there eventually, but it took forever (in my defense, I'd never even heard of a <spoiler>). I'm gonna blame it on donating blood yesterday evening.

(Connections spoilers to follow)
Rose; yeah, I was aware of the thing, just not the name.
There were multiple false leads too. I spent way too many brain cycles (and mistakes) trying to construct a "blind" category from mole, faith, and mini (pencil blinds are a thing, right?? ), and a "dome" category from Capitol and onion.
I got Wordle in 3, which sounds good on paper, but I already had letters 3-5 nailed down after guess #2, and it still took me minutes to come up with #3--I had to resort to mentally enumerating combinations of the remaining letters.
