That would Gandalf when he arrived at Bag End behind Thorin and Bifur, Bofur and Bombur: "It is not like you, Bilbo, to keep friends waiting on the mat, and then open the door like a pop-gun!" (One of the odd anachronisms in The Hobbit, as I would not think that there are anything like "pop-guns" in Middle-earth.)

Middle English gunne, gonne, perhaps from a pet form of the Scandinavian name Gunnhildr, from gunnr + hildr, both meaning ‘war’.
Huh.

On a tangent but remember the Moon Moon the Dumb Werewolf meme? I never knew Gunnhildr was War War, the Dumb Viking.
