"There is good in this world ... ."

Post by Voronwë the Faithful »

With all the negative things that are going on in the world, it is easy to lose sight of all of the good things that people do, the compassion that individuals show each other, and the love that is at the heart of the human spirit. So I thought it would be worth having a thread to highlight examples of this, to balance out all the negativity.

Here's one to start:

Arab plumbers refuse to charge client after learning she’s a Holocaust survivor
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Yes, I think we really need this! Thank you!

As my first contribution, I just want to link to a thread I posted previously: http://thehalloffire.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4087
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

From South Africa:

https://city-press.news24.com/Trending/ ... e-20191109

I couldn't quickly find an article that included the prelude, which was someone posting on twitter to make fun of the dude who proposed. That unkindness is what sparked the outpouring of support.

If every unkindness in this world could trigger an avalanche of good, it would help balance the world.

I read that entire Twitter thread yesterday and loved the snowballing of giving that resulted from that first dismissive, mocking tweet.

I'm not sure what's cuter about the update to that story, that this year she's coming along as his guest or that there's a picture in the article from September when he and his girlfriend were paying her a visit.

So “The Late Late Show” is an Irish chat show that’s been running for decades, but the last show in November has become something of an institution, with practically every Irish person at h9mw and abroad tuning in to watch the kids, the toys and the feelgood factor. Here’s a couple of moments from last nights show.

Kudos to the Dairy Farmers of Ontario! I can't imagine anything worse that being a kid stuck in hospital over Christmas!

I wish more churches would do this, and it also breaks my heart that it's necessary, when it wouldn't be if the U.S. had universal health care! Health care expenses are, of course, the leading cause of bankruptcy in the United States.
