Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
Trump: "What kind of a lawyer would tape a client? ... "
The kind of lawyer that would act as a "fixer" for you, cleaning up your messes by paying off the porn stars and Playmates you sleep with, and perhaps, meeting with Russian agents in Prague to help them help you get elected.
That's what kind of lawyer would tape a client.
Lanny Davis: "He [Cohen] will someday speak the truth about Donald Trump."
That will be an interesting day, if it ever happens.
I find it quite interesting that both Trump and Cohen now have attorneys that represented Bill Clinton as prominent members of their legal teams (Lanny Davis for Cohen and Emmett Flood for Trump). Not sure what that means, but it means something.
ETA: It is quite interesting that I seem to use the word "interesting" so much. Not sure what that means, but it means something.

I just filed a resolution with @Jim_Jordan and several colleagues to impeach Rod Rosenstein. The DOJ has continued to hide information from Congress and repeatedly obstructed oversight--even defying multiple Congressional subpoenas.
We have had enough.

I didn't read the comments extensively, but I didn't see one that supported Mark Meadows.Frelga wrote:North Carolina Rep Mark Meadows

Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
That's actually an old Chinese benediction.

Although looks like it’s not actually a Chinese curse, or benediction.Inanna wrote:Didn’t know. Thanks!Voronwë the Faithful wrote:That's actually an old Chinese benediction.

Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
I did know. Well, more like a curse, and ascribed to Chinese, which is why Pratchett used it. (Interesting Times is set in Agatean Empire, which is the Discworld kinda-China)
Er. What thread is this again?

Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
I've heard it described as both (curse and benediction).
The latest twist in the Cohen saga is that reportedly one of the other tapes seized by the government is a two hour conversation between Cohen and Chris Cuomo, the very same CNN journalist who broke the story of the McDougall conversation tape (and the son of former New York governor Mario Cuomo and brother of current New York governor Andrew Cuomo), in which Cohen asserts that he made the Stormy payment on his own (and also in which he specifically tells Cuomo that he is not recording the conversation.
The Feds may decide that Cohen is just too slimy to rely on as a witness and refuse to cut any deals with him. On the other hand, the fact that Trump had such a close relationship with such a slimeball for so long tells us everything we need to know about our exalted president.
ETA: interesting times!

What I meant was that there is some doubt to whether it is actually Chinese in origin.

Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
So Trump was whining on Twitter about this the other day, asking what kind of lawyer would do this to a client and all I could think was "The kind you hired, Mr. President. The kind you hired."
When you can do nothing what can you do?
Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases
Inanna, I actually cross-posted with your last post.
For a moment, I thought V's comment about the Cohen saga referred to Cohen the Barbarian.
Cohen is slimy af, but I am willing to buy that he might consider some of the practices of this administration going too far even for his low standards. Or may he just wants to jump the ship while he can.

I think he just wants to save his own ass. Or at least as much of it as he can.

And then.
Oh, and The Hill

Mueller wants to question Trump about the tweets.
