Those pesky A's! And they didn't even do us the favor of similarly beating up on the Yankees. Though it was impressive to get to see Manea throw his no-hitter.

The Red Sox were a real class act about the no-hitter.

The A's did actually win the series against the Yankees, or they would have but a safe call at the plate was overturned on review even though there was really no clear way to see that the ump was wrong. :(

Bewilder us with cricket?
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

That sounds like the Song of Songs.

Her hair is like a flock of goats, moving down the slopes of Gilead.

Also from the Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s. From memory, though.

Thy teeth as a row of the shorn ewes
That have come up from the washing,
For all of them are forming twins,
And a bereaved one is not among them.

Maria would appreciate it, probably.

Her teeth are white, like clean, healthy sheep. And I had the slopes of Gilead bit explained to me as how a big flock of black and brown goats would look from a distance in the sun, kind of shiny.

Song of Solomon is in the Christian Bible, but in my church we don't read from it anymore. Tired of jumping through hoops trying to phrase a somewhat erotic love song as a (rather tortured, to put it mildly) metaphor for Christ's love for the church.

My sheep are multicolored. That's why it didn't make sense. Even when they are newly shorn, you don't want your teeth looking black and brown and grey.

This one is "Your rap name = Young + last thing you spent money on".

Mine is Young Claritin and now I'm sad.

If you go by the last thing I bought in person, I'm Young Wine. If you go by the last transaction in my bank records, it's Young Electricity.

Electronically: Young Planner Pad.

In person: Young Children Tylenol

(So, I bought a physical planner pad to better track my research papers, teaching etc. Researched on nytimes and everything. Does anyone else use one?)

I bought a printer cartridge on the way home from work.

"Young Magenta" actually sounds plausible as a stage name.

Well if we are doing colors/flavors, I could be “Young Grape” (of Tylenol).

But then I realized but it was actually Young Toasted Flatbread Sandwich and I'm feeling better.

I could go by YTFS and everyone would ask what F stands for, and I would innocently reply, "Flatbread, why?"

And anyone who has read Snowcrash will
Think YT stands for “Yours Truly”.
