Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Ah, okay. I thought it might be during the conversation with Bergil and his yobbo friends, but it might be this instead:
"Man! Indeed not! I am a hobbit and no more valiant than I am a man, save perhaps now and again by necessity."
(after Gandalf introduced him as a man to Ingold)

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I had to leave off the first two words of the original quote, because TranslationParty just changed the whole thing to "Maybe you should".
When I lopped off the first two words, it came up with this:

You must immediately give me a letter and explain the reason why you are not sending it.
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Related to Gandalf’s letter left in Bree?

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
So it should be easy to narrow down the quote...

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
What a “hasty word”; after all, it is Treebeard.
Your turn.
Be quick. (there’s some kids game that goes like this right: your turn, be quick, something, something)

Translation Party is really not working well:
YOU SAID:
It is difficult not to slip in talking to a dragon
INTO JAPANESE
しばしば言われるように、新しい環境に適応するのは難しい。
BACK INTO ENGLISH
As is often said, it is difficult to adjust yourself to a new environment.

Is it Gandalf to Bilbo?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.
