If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

No and earlier.Jude wrote:Spoken by Saruman at Bag End?
While this is said in a scene that does not appear in the movie, the quote is spoken on screen, to a different character.

Related to Denethor?
'You just said "your getting shorter": you've obviously been drinking too much ent-draught and not enough Prim's.' - Jude
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
No, he's already dead. The dying in the sentence is hypothetical.

Just a wild guess:
"But death in battle may come to us all yet, willing or unwilling." - Faramir to Éowyn

As Eldo noted above, the words "Those that" do appear in the original.

Perhaps this:
Éowyn to the Warden of the Houses of Healing?"And those who have not swords can still die upon them."

Yep!

I can't believe how this turned out:
Nothing teeth-related in the original. You don't need to go to the dentist's.
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Just out of curiosity, can someone run the following quote through the translator? I want to see if you get the same weirdness that I get:
That was my first choice, but the result was so unrelated, it would have been unguessable.Doubtless we shall be hidden from all unfriendly eyes when the snow has covered us, but that will not help us.

I get: "- "You folks"? - Subtle."
Really.
Really.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
You both got the same thing I did! It wasn't a fluke!
I'd really like to know what sort of algorithm was used to translate the original quote to that.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Why does it suddenly go from a long phrase in both English and Japanese to just "Us." in the second English translation? That doesn't make any sense. But I did it several times and it does so every time.
