"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Is it Haldir, speaking about Gimli: "They are not permitted in our land. I cannot allow him to pass."
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
I'm curious as to what Frelga was referring to. It's been a while since I've seen the films, but I used to know them pretty well, and I can't remember anything like that!
I'll be back with another quote soon.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Did he say that while holding a pitcher? I don't remember that! I just remember Galadriel pouring water from a pitcher into her mirror in a very weird way. I guess it may be time for me to watch it again!

I remember that because it was a caption contest on TORC. The winner was something like "Legolas was devastated to learn on Antiques Roadshow that what he thought was a priceless First Age artifact was in fact a cheap Dwarven forgery."

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.
"At least I got to meet a lot of interesting people."
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Here is the new quote. The original is the last two sentences of a longer speech, the last one of which I have quoted or paraphrased often. It changed a lot, but interesting the sense didn't change that much.
If necessary it is. There is peace of mind.

I've never been a big fan of caption contests, but if you guys want to start one, be my guest.

Here is the quote again, since we got a little of track. As I said before, the original is the last two sentences of a longer speech, the last one of which I have quoted or paraphrased often. It changed a lot, but interesting the sense didn't change that much.
If necessary it is. There is peace of mind.
