Carrie Fisher

Post by Sunsilver »

I just saw on FB that Carrie Fisher has passed away, following a massive heart attack a few days ago.

R.I.P. Princess Leila... :(
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Wow, the last I heard I thought she was stable, but I guess not.

RIP.

It's a sad reminder that, for various reasons, the life expectancy of people with severe bipolar disorder is not particularly high. Still, it came as a shock to me too.

Everyone always thinks "Princess Leia", a role she played in her twenties, but she also gained some note for her writing and screenwriting in later decades, which I think shouldn't be forgotten.

I was thinking that, with several of these celebrity deaths, there was a definite history of drug and alcohol abuse. I find that very sad that, so often, the "price" of genius is this compulsion to numb with drugs and alcohol. :(

I literally could not believe this. I could not.

My heart aches for their family and circle of friends.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”
