2016 United States Election
Re: 2016 United States Election
I'm inclined to agree with Al. Unlike her husband, she is not a notorious skirt chaser.

Re: 2016 United States Election
One thing that saddens me the most about the whole DNC kerfluffle is how low WikiLeaks has fallen--from getting the important word out about an otherwise silenced whistle-blower's work to someplace a Russian hacker, possibly in Putin's hire, can drop off stuff Assange wants to use to settle scores.
Re: 2016 United States Election
I'm glad we found out what went on at the DNC. It isn't unimportant.
The National Enquirer is a tabloid newspaper that has the most ridiculous headlines imaginable ('Jennifer Lopez gives birth to alien baby' sort of thing).

Trump apparently thinks very highly of the Enquirer...and also seems to have some connections to the paper. (Of course, he seems to have connections everywhere, so whatever.)

Re: 2016 United States Election
The National Enquirer was the paper that broke the story of John Edwards' affair and extramarital baby—which was actually doing the country a favor, as he was running for president at the time. But mostly it's nonsense and nasty gossip.
I usually read the headlines while I'm in line at the grocery checkout, and I'd agree that Trump is connected there somehow. It goes after his rivals, but never him. These days there are a lot of "Crooked Hillary" headlines.

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Re: 2016 United States Election
I found that link (from Al) utterly depressing.
ETA:
And, Voronwë, thanks for the response. I just read that on Nicholas Kristof's page.
This quote really summed it:
Because without saying a thing, all the world, all America, felt my pain. I am a Gold Star mother. Whoever saw me felt me in their heart.

Re: 2016 United States Election
I'm sorry if this is impolitic, but I don't see how anyone could possibly support Donald Trump after seeing him (or hearing about him) attacking that grieving mother of an American hero. I've said this before, but I can't believe that he can get any lower than that.

The only reason he has a chance at all is because he's running against Hillary. If the Democrats had nominated someone who knew the definition of the word "ethical" he wouldn't stand a chance.Voronwë the Faithful wrote:I'm sorry if this is impolitic, but I don't see how anyone could possibly support Donald Trump after seeing him (or hearing about him) attacking that grieving mother of an American hero. Re: 2016 United States Election
I'm not so sure that is true. The GOP created Trump and (IMHO) they deserve what they have wrought. I do wonder what would have happened had Bernie gotten the nomination, but we all knew that wasn't gonna happen.Cenedril_Gildinaur wrote: The only reason he has a chance at all is because he's running against Hillary. Whatever transpires, it will be an interesting ride.

Is it really any lower than making fun of McCain for being a POW? Hard to say.Voronwë the Faithful wrote:I'm sorry if this is impolitic, but I don't see how anyone could possibly support Donald Trump after seeing him (or hearing about him) attacking that grieving mother of an American hero. Re: 2016 United States Election
I was pleased to see McCain himself condemn Trump over his comments about the Khans.
