I don't say the reaction of the media was inappropriate, Jewel, but funny -- because the situation is inherently ironic. We have a history of meddling in the affairs of other nations, and Clinton herself is a strong proponent of regime change. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say. If we do it to others, we don't have grounds for complaint when it's done to us (or for the solemn tone of shock and indignation I saw on display in interviews).

No, other countries shouldn't meddle in our affairs. And we shouldn't meddle in theirs.

Andrea Mitchell turned the tables on GOP chair Priebus--when he tried to make hay of the emails, and said he thought more might be coming, she asked him if he knew anything and why no one hacked the RNC. Which is an excellent question.

Perhaps the RNC hired itself some Russians?

Can Trump really get away with this without it hurting him? Normally I could consider this to be a dealbreaker, but there have been so many other similar apparent dealbreakers that have not seemed to hurt him.

Sadly, I think you are correct. But think about it. He is calling on an unfriendly foreign power to spy on the U.S. and interfere in the election. It boggles the mind.

It's skating along the edge of, well, treason. Encouraging an enemy to do something damaging to your country.

And all stupid—the "missing" emails were all recovered, and evidently didn't contain anything criminal.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Absolutely none of that matters to Trump. Nor, apparently, to his fans.

I'm genuinely surprised at how enduring a scandal the dumb emails have been. It's such a boring story, I expected everyone to get tired of it ages ago.

Not that I can claim to be very informed over here in Ireland, but it feels like its the only thing they have on Hilary, so they will keep worrying at it.
