How many industries release new products with the frequency that a film studio does? Is it possible that the dud rate would be more comparable if this were taken into account? Film studios are also somewhat singular in that they derive almost all their income from new product releases, and that their revenue streams dry up very fast if they don't keep releasing new films at regular intervals. This presumably creates enormous pressure to get things done and out the door on schedule, even at the cost of quality.
