If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Frelga, your link doesn't being up anything interesting, or am I missing something? It shows me just a list of "Sponsored Links" and "Related Categories," all McDonald's-related. No other text or images.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Vintage TORC song parodies from http://forums.theonering.com/viewtopic.php?t=33138 :
Mine (slightly changed, circa 2003) :
SARUMAN
Based on "Candyman" from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
Who can breed an Uruk,
Make him go for you?
Also breeding half-orcs and a goblin-man or two,
Saruman...
Oh, Saruman can. (Saruman can)
Saruman can 'cause he crossbreeds them with love
and makes the world ungood.
Who can take an old king,
Wrap him in a sigh?
Take away his self-esteem and cause his son to die,
Saruman...
Oh, Saruman can. (Saruman can)
Saruman can 'cause he makes his plans with love
and makes the world ungood.
Oh, Saruman makes
everything he takes
Savage, loathsome and quite vicious;
Dunland guys got more issues.
All because he's quite ambitious!
Who can take the forest,
Make it just a dream?
Separate the lumber and infuriate Quickbeam,
Saruman...
Oh, Saruman can (Saruman can)
Saruman can 'cause he chops it down with love
and makes the world ungood.
And the world's ungood
'cause Saruman thinks it should.
(I figure "ungood" is Tolkienish, like "unlight"...)
Nár's THE Nazgûl (from "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel)
I am just a witch king, with a black and wretched cloak,
I have squandered my resistance for a lousy ring of power, such are promises,
All lies and jest. Still a Nazgûl must obey Sauron, and disregard the rest.
Ooh la la, la la la la.
When I left my reign and my family I became a scary wraith,
In the company of eight losers, in the firey lands of Mordor, riding bored.
Ruling Angmar, setting Arthedain on fire when the army of Gondor came
And I lost, though no mortal man can kill me.
Lie la lie. Lie la lie, lie lie la lie. Lie la lie. Lie la lie lie la lie, la la la la lie.
Fighting Elves, Men and Hobbits I come looking for the Ring, but I cannot find it
And a bloody Ranger lit me like a barbecue
I do declare, I was silly with that torch stuck into my head.
Ooh la la, la la la la.
Then I'm riding to the Ford and wishing I was gone, going home,
Where the evil mists of Angmar are calling me,
Leading me, going home
On the fell steed flies a Witch King, and a Nazgûl by his trade
and he carries the reminders of every She-Elf that drowned him
and every torch that burnt him in his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving", but the Nazgûl still remains.
Lie la lie. Lie la lie, lie lie la lie. Lie la lie. Lie la lie lie la lie, la la la la lie.
