I'll put this here, rather than start a new thread, but this is extremely cool. I know that some Tolkien scholars criticize Colbert, but I don't think that anyone does more to bring arcane Tolkien knowledge to the masses. And in this case, connecting Tolkien to the most current popular music.

I'm pretty sure that the sentence "Some X criticize Y" is true for any values of X and Y. ;)

OMG. Breathtaking.

Tom's comment: "He is such a total nerd. Which is great for all of us."

Could probably apply that to Tolkien in general. Unless *looking around with a glower and clenching hands* you have some kind of problem with the term "nerd."

These tapestries, based on Tolkien's artwork, are amazing, but the look in Christopher Tolkien's face as he sees them for the first time is one of the most moving things I've ever seen. And the story he tells about the Rivendell painting is quite special as well.

Thats fabulous, but I wish I could have seen more of the tapestries and their creation! Also, CRRT really is very frail now. :(
