This 19 year old has created a prosthetic arm for under $350, and released the design template and software as open source.

Wow. Just . . . wow. He's going to change the world for a lot of people. Partly because he's giving it away. It makes me think of Tim Berners-Lee and his open-source browser software that became the World Wide Web.
