Losing Hearts and Minds...

Post by Ghân-buri-Ghân »

There is little verifiable information that comes out of the "badlands" of NW Pakistan. Foreign journalists are barred by Pakistan, and as a consequence, the ongoing "drone war" is reported almost wholly via the US military, who claim that the overwhelming number of casualties are "militants". It has been one of President Obama's most questionable strategies, to escalate the drone attacks against these "militants", and it has been trumpeted as a great success. But is this truly the case?

Noor Behram is a native of Waziristan, and is one of the few people to document the effects of drone strikes on the ground. His evidence challenges the official narrative; rather than targeting militants, it is the innocent, including women and children, who are the majority victims. A guardian report can be found here.

It would seem that President Obama's reliance on increasing drone attacks is counter-productive, fomenting resentment, anger, and hatred. It is losing hearts and minds...

It always has been. It's never worked anywhere. It's a mystery why they bother.

Well, not really a mystery. :(

Pres. Eisenhower warned of the Military/Industrial Complex and you know what? He knew what he was talking about and, moreover, he was right. (As in "correct", not "Right".)

But there you are. No one listens to Cassandra, even if her name is Ike.
Dig deeper.
