Hmm.. THe National Anthem. There is of course a french and english version. For the most part when I was in school we weren't really allowed to sing it in school, only listen to recordings of it. I forget the reasoning. So there are quite a few people who don't even really know the words. 
I have always found the American notion of the "melting pot", quite curious. I would very much like to know who came up with it.
