Outstanding interview. Smaug truly deserves a show on his own

Oops! My apologies. In any event, an unprecedented television event deserves two posts! Or three!

No worries. It is great fun, isn't it? (Even more than President Obama taking over The Word, although that was great, too.)

The Vinyamars on Stage! This time at Bag End
Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
That was fun to watch. But it did make me wonder - was any of the movie shot in a real place?Voronwë the Faithful wrote:

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
There certainly was some stuff shot in the Dale, Erebor, and Shire/Bag End sets, off the top of my head.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Do you mean like the Dale and Erebor sets were built in real locations, ie. not inside a studio?

Dale, yes, and the Shire. Erebor and Bag End are studio sets, inside (of course).

One of my favorite reactions to the movie: "Oh, now a Scottish dwarf is riding a [...] pig bc this movie is just Leaders Riding Inappropriate Mammals."
There's more at @Nicole_Cliffe twitter, but be warned, she really did not like the movie

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Both the "How it should have ended" and "Honest Trailer" vids for The Battle of the Five Armies (or should I say, "The Bloating of the Five Pages" ) came out today...don't forget to watch right to the end, including post-credits!

Those are so good. Though my all-time favorite line is from the AUJ "How it should have ended":
Bilbo: "I'm sorry, did you say scrotum beard?"
Gandalf: "Scrotum beard!"

Interesting interview with RA, particularly with regard to his comments about Tauriel.
