You have to have iTunes installed on whatever devise you are using, and open it in there. It won't work if you just click on the link that Elen gave.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Right. I neglected to mention that critical first step.

For those of us who don't have iTunes, the 90 second version of Ironfoot is available on Youtube:
Has a bit of a "Western" feel, IMO...

The bagpipe is very nice, but the other layers seem like they come from the standard "epic music" selection in a Hollywood score grab bag.
ETA: I agree with Elen. Though to me, it sounds like the music recycled over and over again for many Hollywood Westerns. It's oddly flat, IMO.

Anything that makes Bagpipes sound good is a winner in my book!

I think bagpipes always sound good! Well, at least the Irish ones.
Re: The Music of the Hobbit (Now with possible Spoilers)
Nah, I love Uileann Pipes, but not bagpipes.

My understanding is that a Uileann Pipe is a type of bagpipe. The "elbow" type.

In the same way as a mandolin is a type of banjo maybe.

If it has a bag and a pipe, it's a bagpipe!
ETA: And both Stanford University (http://web.stanford.edu/~wrinnes/Bagpip ... lleann.htm) and CelticRenaissanceMusic.com (http://www.celticrenaissancemusic.com/Uilleann-Bagpipes) agree with me!

But...no, I can't beat that. You win.

Full version of "The Last Goodbye" released....
Not sure it's quite what we were expecting from the 30 second sample!

I like it. A lot. I suspect in a few more listens I'll love it.
ETA: I like how both "Into the West" and "The Last Goodbye" work on multiple levels. "Into the West" served as both a tribute to the young filmmaker Cameron Duncan while also working in the context of the film as a farewell to Frodo and Bilbo. Here, it feels like they are saying goodbye to the cast, crew and fans of the movie as much as Bilbo saying farewell to his companions from the Quest. I like the symmetry.

The Lyrics as posted by dormouse on TORN
I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
Under cloud, beneath the stars
Over snow one winter’s morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don’t regret
Nor will I forget
All who took that road with me
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
I bid you all a very fond farewell.

Yes, it may well grow on me - I like it better second time through already! I like the feel of the opening section better than the last third, though...

I like the lyrics a lot. And Al is right on about the subtle way it works on more than one level.
And much like Into the West, it feels like it's really about death (in yet another layer).

I love it. My favorite of all the end credits songs of all six films, hands down.

And it's gone from YouTube already.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Re: The Music of the Hobbit (Now with possible Spoilers)
If you search YouTube for "the last goodbye billy boyd," you will probably find more. I saw one yesterday or the day before that just looked like the trailer at first, but during the second half it had the song dubbed over the trailer music.
