So, by "That's the one! Your turn!", I meant that your answer was correct and that you are therefore entitled, as per the Rimousky Treaty of 1949, Section 3 Paragraph 17, to post the next quote. Sorry if that was unclear. Musta been my Canadian accent, eh?

In other words: :poke:

I love that.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Oops. Tonight! And by “tonight” I mean a time when I will be home, when it will likely be dark outside in the US north east, but before the sun crosses the date line today (and today is Dec 5 2018 EST).

"What a lot of things you use Tonight for!" said Gandalf. "Now you mean some unspecified time in the future, when the kids are all grown up and you have a national leader that doesn't embarrass you every time he goes out in public."

Is it spoken by Gandalf? I don't recognize the quote yet, but it sounds vaguely gandalfy.

No, not Gandalf.

Someone with high status in the lore, though.

Ugh, it rings a bell but the penny doesn't drop. Is it Aragorn, possibly to Boromir?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

High status in the *lore*, not necessarily in LOTR.

Elrond is important in LOTR!! What’s wrong with you?

Another Elf (actual Elf, not half like Elrond).

A hint which should indicate who the speaker is.

The speaker, while not Gandalf, has something in common with Gandalf.

Ooh, I forgot that.

Okay - either Galadriel or Círdan?

It appears that the speaker is Galadriel, but what the quote is I don't know.
