Éomer?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Just to bring it to the new page:
If you believe in an old story, it is not new. And I don't know what is important to me or you.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I thought it might be from Bilbo's and Gandalf's argument in Bag End about what to do with the Ring, but I read the passage again and couldn't find any quote that would fit the translation...

You got it NArya! Just the first two sentences though. It was actually very close to the last quote, and a reply to a more recognisable one!

Here's an easy one:
I have to find a pile of fire and throw things into the bay of destiny.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I'm guessing this is Frodo to Faramir:
'I was going to find a way into Mordor,' he said faintly. `I was going to Gorgoroth. I must find the Mountain of Fire and cast the thing into the gulf of Doom. Gandalf said so. I do not think I shall ever get there.'

I tried Goldberry's laconic description of her husband, "He is", and translationparty changed it into "He is evil.". I don't think any of you would have gotten that one without a ton of hints.

"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Okay, here's a good one:
They hunt for me. How far have I been? Time, i need to think.
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I feel like this is Gandalf explaining to Frodo in Rivendell why he didn’t meet them. I’d have to look it up though.

It's not Gandalf. At this time, everybody thinks he's dead.
