Is this Túrin apologizing for one of his men shooting one of Mîm's sons?

If I'm right, Alatar can take this one because I had no clue until I saw his quote.

If you're right you should totally take this cause all I could think of was either Lúthien and Beren or Eöl and Aredhel.

Jude has it. While it is a close call, and it could certainly go either way, I tend to agree with Al that it should be Jude's turn next. But well done by both of you, and Frelga, too. It was truly a team effort.

Alrighty then...
But he does not hold it. It was not when he fled from unwelcome visitors, as in the case of Bilbo.

Is he Frodo? And it the ring?

Oh. Um. Is the speaker Gandalf? To Sam, maybe?

Gah! I can almost see the quote, but where? Lórien?

Right after Boromir returned and equivocated...
'But he wouldn't keep it on,' said Merry. 'Not when he had escaped the unwelcome visitor, like Bilbo used to.'

And assuming that was the quote you had in mind, here's the next offering. I translated each line of this riddle separately:
Iron or wood found,
When a young man was on the mountain under the moon;
The ring was made or the training was sad,
It walked long ago in the forest.
In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. ~ Albert Camus

I think most of the chapters have riddles in them, so I could be confusing and say yes. But if you are thinking of Bilbo and Sméagol riddling each other under the mountain, then, no.

I know its about the Ents and I could probably retranslate the last two lines from memory but I'm not sure of the speaker. Was it Gandalf the White?

Ere iron was found or tree was hewn,
When young was mountain under moon;
Ere ring was made, or wrought was woe,
It walked the forests long ago.
