That's it, Jude.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

I think some rogue programmer has been having fun with translation party. For today's quote, each subsequent translation was a slight change on the one before, and then between the penultimate and ultimate quotes there was a complete disconnect. From reading this thread, it looks like that's been the norm lately.

Here's the penultimate one which you should use to solve the quote:
You looked through the glass you were peeking at last, so you have seen something.
And here's the one that reached equilibrium, which you should ignore for the purpose of this quote. What the expletive deleted?
And assuredly ye were wont to long for death ere ye had met it. Now ye are beholding it even while ye are looking on.

So I got curious and googled that last phrase. Apparently it's from the Koran.

Should we tell them?

And does the quote refer to
A. the palantír?
B. Galadriel’s mirror
C. Neither.

I think I know which one it is - the one I posted a while back. The translation looked completely then, although also very odd.

Probably, but I'll let someone else go first.

Was it stated by a hobbit?
Was it stated to a hobbit?
Was it stated about a hobbit?
