Here is one possibility - Aragorn to Gandalf just before they found the white sapling:
But I shall die. For I am a mortal man, and though being what I am and of the race of the West unmingled, I shall have life far longer than other men, yet that is but a little while; and when those who are now in the wombs of women are born and have grown old, I too shall grow old. And who then shall govern Gondor and those who look to this City as to their queen, if my desire be not granted? The Tree in the Court of the Fountain is still withered and barren. When shall I see a sign that it will ever be otherwise?

You got it! Your turn.

Not including the last three sentences. Just till "shall grow old"

Okay, I can hardly believe the direct that this translation took:
Maybe I can. Fear of the other person were killed. The details of his will. However, this evil and sorrows to come. Us strikes in the hearts of the enemies of the United States of America. He is a job.

It sounds like propaganda.

It sounds like an inaugural address.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Hmm, a hint? Well, you could say that it was spoken as the result of negative propaganda.

Alatar - no, but I think you may be on the right track.

Is it Gandalf to Pippin, when asked to go rescue Faramir from his Dad?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Oops, I looked up the quote again and Alatar was right - I had misremembered it as Denethor speaking, but it was indeed Gandalf. It turns out that Frelga's guess was also right. So one of you should provide the exact quote...

Maybe I can," said Gandalf; "but if I do, then others will die, I fear. Well, I must come, since no other help can reach him. But evil and sorrow will come of this. Even in the heart of our stronghold the Enemy has power to strike us: for his will it is that is at work."

Okay. I will do so. I'm going to collect details about my stuff and share them.

Why do you need details of my stuff, though?
